Event Monitors

What Are Event Monitors?

An Event Monitor, such as the LifeStar AF Express™ Auto-Detect Looping Monitor or the ZIO Patch, is a specialized ambulatory cardiac monitoring device designed to automatically detect and record cardiac events like AFIB, Bradycardia, and Tachycardia. With features like auto-triggering and continuous monitoring, these devices provide valuable insights into asymptomatic heart conditions, offering up to 30 days of monitoring to capture crucial data.

Key Features of Event Monitors:

  1. Auto-Detection: The device automatically triggers and records asymptomatic events of AFIB, Bradycardia, and Tachycardia without manual intervention.
  2. Extended Monitoring: Provides continuous monitoring for up to 30 days, enabling the detection of cardiac irregularities over an extended period.
  3. Easy Event Transmission: Patients can manually transmit symptomatic events via a landline phone to the monitoring center for further analysis.
  4. ZIO Patch Technology: The ZIO Patch offers a lead-free, wire-free, and battery-free monitoring solution that is lightweight, water-resistant, and preferred by a vast majority of patients for its comfort and convenience.

Benefits of Event Monitoring:

  1. Enhanced Detection: Continuous monitoring ensures the capture of both symptomatic and asymptomatic cardiac events for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  2. Improved Compliance: Comfortable and user-friendly designs promote better patient compliance, leading to more reliable monitoring results.
  3. Advanced Technology: Cutting-edge monitoring devices offer superior ECG recording capabilities and longer monitoring durations, enhancing diagnostic capabilities.

ZIOPATCH – ZIO Patch

The ZIO® Patch is a new form of ambulatory cardiac monitoring described as a wearable patch. The ZIO Patch is unique compared to traditional Holter monitors as the monitoring device has no leads, no wires and no batteries. The ZIO Patch weighs just a few ounces that is a peel and stick device that is worn for an extended monitoring period of up to 14 days. Even though the device is worn for a longer duration than a Holter monitor, the ZIO Patch is said to be preferred by nearly 80% of patients as compared to a traditional 24 Holter monitor.

Features of the ZIO Patch:

  1. Arguably the smallest ambulatory cardiac monitor
  2. Light weight
  3. No lead wires
  4. Single channel ECG recording
  5. No batteries
  6. Superior patient compliance
  7. Water resistant
  8. Up to 14 days of continuous ECG recording
